NMDC, or National Mineral Development Corporation, is a Navratna enterprise of the Government of India associated with the production of iron ore. The company currently has an iron ore production capacity of 45 metric tonnes per annum from its manufacturing units in Bailadila, Chhattisgarh, and Donimalai, Karnataka. India’s only mechanised diamond mine at Panna in Madhya Pradesh is also operated by NMDC. In addition to its mining complexes, NMDC has an R&D centre in Hyderabad, ensuring the most sustainable and scientific practices for its mines. Under the leadership of Amitava Mukherjee, the company saw a turnover of ₹21,294 cr in FY 23-24. NMDC has catered to clients like JSW Steel, Jindal Steel and Power, Welspun Steel, and Kalyani Steel with its diversified offerings.
