About

In an industry where gender pay parity remains a work in progress, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been a steadfast advocate for equal pay. After 22 years in the industry, she was able to negotiate and achieve pay equity with Amazon’s Citadel, reportedly earning the same $5 million as her male co-lead. Now, with her upcoming film SSMB29 alongside Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, she is set to become the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. This pan-India project also marks her return to South Indian cinema after more than two decades. Throughout her journey—from winning pageants to conquering Bollywood and making a mark internationally—she has consistently stood her ground and challenged industry norms. The actor’s U.S. journey began with music, but within three years of her first song’s release, she became the first South Asian to lead an American network drama series, starring in ABC network’s Quantico. In 2015, she launched Purple Pebble Pictures, which has since produced numerous films, including Academy Award-nominated ones, with Anuja—a contender for Best Live Action Short—being the latest. Beyond the film industry, she has invested in companies such as the dating app Bumble, and the U.S.-based rental marketplace Apartment List. Plus, in 2021, she launched Anomaly Haircare, and opened Sona, a restaurant in Manhattan. Among the many hats Chopra Jonas wears, she runs a foundation for the underprivileged and is an active UNICEF ambassador. She also represents global brands like Bulgari and Max Factor. Over the past year, she has been filming Heads of State (an action-comedy with Idris Elba), The Bluff (a thriller produced by Purple Pebble Pictures), and Citadel Season 2. Chopra manages it all with ease, driven by her belief in “never having small ambitions”.
