Navi Limited, led by former Flipkart Founder Sachin Bansal, on Wednesday announced an investment of $100 million from Prosus, marking the Bengaluru-based financial services company's first institutional capital raise as it seeks to expand its technology-driven financial services platform.

The proposed transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals, including approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The investment also builds on a relationship spanning more than a decade between Navi Founder and Executive Chairman Sachin Bansal and Naspers and the Prosus Group.

Navi's payments, lending businesses gain momentum

Navi said it enters its next phase of growth with strong operating momentum across its businesses. During FY26, Navi UPI retained its position as India's fourth-largest UPI app, highlighting its continued presence in the country's highly competitive digital payments market.

Its lending business, Navi Finserv, also continued to expand, with assets under management (AUM) crossing ₹130 billion, or ₹13,000 crore. The company said improving economics and greater operating leverage helped the Group achieve consolidated profitability in the fourth quarter of FY26.

Commenting on the investment, Sachin Bansal said, "Prosus is one of the world's most respected investors, with an exceptional track record of backing category-defining technology companies over the long term." He said his association with Naspers and the Prosus Group dates back more than a decade, making the partnership particularly meaningful.

Bansal added that Prosus's investment was a "strong endorsement of the institution we're building at Navi", while highlighting the investor's global perspective, long-term orientation and experience in scaling technology businesses.

Prosus bets on Navi's technology-led model

Ashutosh Sharma, Head of Prosus India Investments and M&A, said, "We are excited about our partnership with Navi, a business that is demonstrating all the qualities we look for while investing - a large base of loyal users, a platform play with multiple lines of businesses, a technology-first approach to problem solving and a relentless focus on delivering superior consumer experience."

Sharma said Navi had executed well over the past 12 months despite a tough macroeconomic environment and was well positioned to capture opportunities in the financial services sector.

He also described Bansal as a founder who shares Prosus's philosophy of patient company-building, developing better products and creating long-term value at scale.

Navi targets next phase of expansion

Navi said the investment comes at an important stage in its journey to build one of India's leading technology-driven financial services institutions.

The company offers financial products and services including loans, insurance, mutual funds and UPI payments, both directly and through partners. Navi said it has hundreds of millions of users across India and combines in-house technology with consumer insights to develop financial solutions.

The proposed Prosus investment is expected to strengthen Navi as it looks to build on its growth in digital payments and lending and expand its integrated financial services offering.
