UP exports ₹47,484 crore to BRICS, partner countries, accounts for 24% of total shipments

Uttar Pradesh has exported goods worth ₹47,484 crore to BRICS member countries and partner countries, accounting for 23.7% of the state's total exports of approximately ₹2 lakh crore, according to the state's available export profile.
Of the total, exports worth ₹34,811 crore were shipped to BRICS member countries while partner countries accounted for ₹12,673 crore. The figures highlight the growing role of emerging markets in Uttar Pradesh's export strategy as the state seeks to expand its industrial base and global trade footprint.
The data comes as the BRICS Summit is being held in New Delhi under India's presidency, with discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, trade and economic partnerships among emerging economies.
UAE is UP's largest BRICS export market
Among BRICS member countries, the UAE is Uttar Pradesh's largest export destination. The state exported goods worth ₹15,133 crore to the UAE, accounting for 43.5% of its total exports to BRICS member countries.
Saudi Arabia followed with exports worth ₹4,938 crore, while shipments to Egypt stood at ₹3,848 crore. Other major BRICS markets included Indonesia at ₹2,670 crore, China at ₹2,497 crore, Brazil at ₹2,209 crore, South Africa at ₹1,690 crore and Russia at ₹1,584 crore.
Exports to Iran stood at ₹131 crore, while those to Ethiopia amounted to ₹110 crore. The UAE and Saudi Arabia are significant markets for Uttar Pradesh's food, agriculture-based and industrial products. Meanwhile, markets such as China, Russia, Brazil, and South Africa offer opportunities to expand shipments of machinery, electrical equipment, textiles and other manufactured goods.
Vietnam, Malaysia lead partner-country exports
Among BRICS partner countries, Vietnam and Malaysia are the largest export markets for Uttar Pradesh.
Exports to Vietnam stood at ₹5,949 crore, accounting for 46.9% of the state's total exports to partner countries. Malaysia followed with exports worth ₹3,740 crore, representing 29.5% of the total.
Other partner-country markets included Uzbekistan, with exports of ₹1,339 crore, Thailand at ₹733 crore, Nigeria at ₹730 crore, Uganda at ₹114 crore, Kazakhstan at ₹49 crore, Bolivia at ₹10 crore and Belarus at ₹8 crore.
The figures indicate that Uttar Pradesh exporters are expanding beyond traditional markets and gaining a foothold in emerging markets across Asia, Africa, West Asia and Latin America.
Electrical equipment, garments among key exports
Major products exported to BRICS member countries included electrical machinery and equipment worth ₹3,894 crore, garments and clothing accessories worth ₹2,527 crore, machinery and mechanical equipment worth ₹2,494 crore, and precious and semi-precious stones, metals and jewellery worth ₹2,378 crore.
Exports to partner countries included electrical machinery and equipment worth ₹928 crore, machinery and mechanical equipment worth ₹539 crore, aluminium and related products worth ₹302 crore, and leather and leather products worth ₹280 crore.
Uttar Pradesh has a diverse industrial base spanning food processing, textiles, leather, electrical equipment, machinery, jewellery and other manufacturing sectors. The state's export profile reflects the presence of both traditional industries and modern industrial units across its districts.
State focuses on export-led industrial growth
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has been focusing on industrial investment, connectivity, ease of doing business, employment generation and export promotion.
Expanding access to global markets for small, medium and large enterprises is a key part of this strategy. The state will also need to strengthen quality standards, packaging, logistics, testing facilities, branding and international trade processes to sustain export growth.
