Samsung Electronics will unveil its next generation of Galaxy devices at its Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow, July 22 in London, where the spotlight is expected to be on foldable smartphones and new Galaxy AI features amongst other refreshed products.
The company has officially announced the event with the tagline “A New Shape Unfolds”, signalling that foldables will once again lead the launch. The event will be livestreamed on Samsung’s website and YouTube channel.
This year’s Unpacked comes at a time when competition in the premium smartphone segment has intensified. Chinese smartphone makers such as Honor, Oppo and Vivo have launched thinner foldables over the past year, while Google has continued to expand its Pixel Fold lineup. Samsung is expected to respond with slimmer hardware and software upgrades centred on artificial intelligence.
The company has not revealed the products it plans to launch. However, teasers released ahead of the event highlight a thinner design and a stronger focus on AI-powered experiences across the Galaxy ecosystem.
What is expected to launch
Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is widely expected to be Samsung’s flagship announcement. Reports suggest the device could feature a thinner design, a redesigned hinge to reduce the visible crease, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon flagship processor and upgraded Galaxy AI capabilities. Improvements to multitasking, note-taking and productivity features are also expected.
Galaxy Z Flip 8
Samsung is also expected to refresh its clamshell foldable with the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The phone is likely to retain its overall design while bringing upgrades to performance, battery efficiency and AI-powered software features.
Galaxy Watch lineup
A new generation of Galaxy Watch devices is also expected at the event. Industry reports point to improved health tracking, AI-assisted wellness features and an upgraded processor, although Samsung has not confirmed any details.
Android XR updates
Samsung could also provide an update on its Android XR platform, which it is developing with Google. While speculation around smart glasses has grown in recent months, there is no official indication that Samsung will unveil XR hardware at this event.
With this, Samsung is entering the smart glasses market where Meta is the market leader with its collaboration with Ray-Ban and recently with Oakley, claiming to have sold more than 7 million glasses globally since launch.
