The new site houses a total of eight chargers—four V4 Superchargers and four destination chargers—taking Tesla’s overall network in India to four charging stations with 20 Superchargers and 14 destination chargers, according to a company statement issued on April 6.

Focus shifts to high-footfall locations

Located in the basement parking of the Seawoods mall, the facility includes DC fast chargers with peak speeds of 250 kW, alongside 11 kW AC chargers for longer-duration charging. Tesla said its Superchargers can add up to 275 km of range to a Model Y in 15 minutes, enabling intercity travel use cases.

The company indicated it is scaling up its network across locations where customers are likely to spend time, including malls, highway rest stops and food courts. The approach reflects an attempt to integrate charging into daily routines rather than positioning it as a standalone activity.

Tesla’s charging ecosystem is integrated with its mobile app, allowing users to locate stations, check availability, monitor charging sessions and complete payments.

Gradual ramp-up in India

The Navi Mumbai station builds on Tesla’s existing footprint across Gurugram, New Delhi and Mumbai, signalling a calibrated expansion rather than an aggressive rollout. At the same location, Tesla has also opened a pop-up store to showcase its vehicles and offer test drives, indicating a parallel push on customer acquisition.

The Model Y, currently priced from ₹59.89 lakh, remains Tesla’s entry product in India as it tests demand in the premium EV segment.

Tesla’s India journey has gathered pace over the past few years, with a mix of retail presence and charging infrastructure buildout. The company first established a foothold in Gurugram with its Tesla Center, alongside an early charging site at DLF Horizon Centre.

This was followed by the opening of an experience centre in New Delhi’s Aerocity (Worldmark 3), which also hosts Superchargers, and a flagship presence in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), combining retail and charging infrastructure.
