Apollo Hospitals’ JMD takes the helm of India’s apex healthcare body, signaling a focus on patient-centric care, digital health, and industry-government collaboration

Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director (JMD) of Apollo Hospitals Group, has been appointed the President of NATHEALTH for FY 2026–27. The announcement was made at the NATHEALTH Annual General Meeting, held alongside the 12th NATHEALTH Arogya Bharat Annual Summit 2026. She succeeds Ameera Shah, Promoter & Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., as NATHEALTH charts a new phase in India’s healthcare leadership.
Joining the new leadership team are Himanshu Baid, Managing Director of Poly Medicure Ltd., as Senior Vice President, and Varun Khanna, Group MD of Quality Care India Ltd., as Vice President, with additional appointments expected in the coming months.
Dr. Reddy emphasized the importance of transitioning from episodic treatment to a healthcare model prioritizing prevention, patient safety, and long-term wellbeing. “Strengthening primary care, expanding insurance coverage, and embedding preventive health practices will be critical to reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases,” she said. She highlighted the role of technology and digital health platforms in expanding access to quality care in underserved regions and ensuring continuity of treatment.
NATHEALTH Senior Vice President Mr. Himanshu Baid underscored India’s potential as a global hub for MedTech and healthcare technology solutions.
“With strong clinical expertise and a rapidly expanding digital ecosystem, India can lead the next phase of healthcare transformation,” he said, noting the importance of research investment, supportive regulation, and collaboration between industry, academia, and policymakers.
NATHEALTH Vice President Varun Khanna highlighted the need for efficient integration of quality, accessibility, and infrastructure. Strengthening hospital systems, standardizing clinical protocols, and leveraging technology can improve outcomes, while collaboration among stakeholders will be vital to achieving scalable, high-quality healthcare delivery.
Dr. Reddy assumes leadership at a pivotal moment for India’s healthcare sector, aligned with Union Budget 2026–27 priorities and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of robust, accessible healthcare. Under her presidency, NATHEALTH aims to advance preventive health, digital innovation, and equitable healthcare access, driving India toward the vision of Aarogya Bharat 2047.
