According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two-day meeting will focus on key global and regional issues of mutual interest. Discussions will reflect the evolving geopolitical landscape and the role of BRICS in addressing shared challenges. On the second day, participants will deliberate under the theme “BRICS@20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, followed by a session on “Reforms of Global Governance and Multilateral System”.

Addressing the weekly media briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the schedule and outlined the broad contours of the meeting.

“The meeting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers is scheduled for the 14th and 15th May, and we are presiding over it. As for the specific countries you mentioned, it is up to them to decide who will represent them. However, as the delegations arrive, you will be apprised of who is leading their respective teams and who is participating in the proceedings...” he said.

The upcoming meeting follows the last interaction of BRICS foreign ministers held on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 26, 2025, where India participated in its capacity as the incoming chair for 2026.
