The seven-year-old startup raised $190 million in April, catapulting it to unicorn status. Started by engineering batch-mates Bhal and Khaitan, along with Chandra, the company’s roughly 35,000 professionals offer at-home services ranging from grooming to plumbing. After an initial hiccup during the pandemic, it is now on an expansion spree, partly why it rebranded from UrbanClap to a name with a “universal appeal”. The startup aims to double its number of professionals and expand from 30 Indian cities to 50. It also operates in the U.A.E., Australia, Singapore, and recently entered Saudi Arabia.
