Mahindra says the split between XEV 9e and BE 6 bookings is 56% and 44%, respectively, and top-end variant "Pack Three", featuring a 79 kWh battery, accounts for 73% of total bookings
Signalling a massive demand for premium EVs in the country, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra today said its electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6, have collectively raked in ₹8,472 crore (at ex-showroom price) in booking value on the first day of reservations.
The company informed that eSUVs have secured a total of 30,179 bookings, a major milestone considering the total electric passenger vehicle sales in India was about 1 Lakh units for the entire calendar year 2024.
"The split between the XEV 9e and BE 6 is 56% and 44%, respectively. The top-end Pack Three, featuring a 79 kWh battery, accounted for 73% of the total bookings across both brands," says Mahindra.
The company says the response to XEV 9e and BE6 indicate "strong customer enthusiasm" for Mahindra’s next-generation electric SUVs and reflects the growing demand for premium EVs in India. The company has announced that the deliveries for XEV 9e and BE 6 will start in the latter part of March 2025 in the following phased schedule.
Deliveries of different variants will begin in the latter part of March 2025: Pack Three from mid-March 2025; Pack Three Select from June 2025; Pack Two from July 2025; Pack One Above from August 2025; and Pack One from August 2025.
"Mahindra remains committed to providing a smooth and transparent delivery experience. Customers will receive their tentative delivery timelines within the next three weeks through regular updates," says the company, adding that bookings for the XEV 9e and BE 6 are open across select authorised Mahindra dealerships and its website.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has priced BE 6e and the XEV 9e at ₹18.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹21.9 lakh, respectively (starting price). Both new electric vehicles are based on the INGLO platform, which offers options for two battery packs -- 59 kilowatt hour and 79 kWh. The automaker, however, has revealed prices only for the 59 kWh battery pack. It will announce prices for the 79 kWh battery pack in the coming months.
The BE 6e, which competes with other EVs in the mid-size SUV segment including Tata Motors’ Curvv.ev, offers a claimed range of 684 kilometres (ARAI certified) for the soon-to-be-launched 79 kWh battery pack variant. The ARAI-certified range for the BE 6e SUV's 59 kWh battery pack trim is 556 km. The XEV 9e offers a claimed range of 656 km for the 79 kWh trim and 542 km for the 59 kWh battery pack variant.
Mahindra says its new EVs (59 kWh battery) can be fast-charged from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes with the help of a 140 kW DC charger. The 79 kWh trims can also be charged from 20% state of charge to 80% SOC in 20 minutes with a 175 kW fast charger. These EVs provide a 2C fast charging rate for the first time for any mass-market EV in India. The carmaker has been able to achieve this with BYD's blade cells which offer cell-to-pack technology without the need of putting cells in modules.
