The government on Monday said that IndiGo will operate 10 special relief flights from Jeddah on March 3 to bring back stranded passengers to India

As tensions escalate across West Asia and airspace closures disrupt commercial aviation, India has intensified evacuation measures while airlines cautiously resume select operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reached out to key regional leaders to address the evolving crisis and ensure the safety of Indian nationals.
The government on Monday said that IndiGo will operate 10 special relief flights from Jeddah on March 3 to bring back stranded passengers to India.
"IndiGo has planned 10 special relief operations from Jeddah to India on 3 March, 2026 to facilitate the return of stranded passengers, subject to required approvals and prevailing airspace conditions. IndiGo is coordinating with the Consulate General of India at Jeddah for passenger facilitation," the ministry said in a statement.
The move follows widespread flight disruptions triggered by the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Several airspaces in the region remain closed or restricted, leading to cancellations, diversions and uncertainty for travellers across the Gulf.
Thousands of Indian passengers have been affected as airlines reassess routes to avoid sensitive air corridors.
In a parallel development, Air India Express announced it will resume flights to and from Muscat starting Tuesday after temporarily suspending services due to the security situation, according to PTI.
The Tata Group-owned carrier will operate scheduled services between Muscat and Indian cities including Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappalli, the report said.
On the diplomatic front, PM Modi held a series of telephone conversations with leaders across the region.
He spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan, expressing deep concern over the developments and reaffirming India’s support for peace and stability. He thanked the Jordanian leadership for looking after the Indian community during the crisis.
In separate calls with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, the Prime Minister condemned recent attacks on their territories and expressed solidarity with their people.
PM Modi also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing India’s concerns and reiterating the need for prioritising civilian safety and achieving an early cessation of hostilities.
