Apple is gearing up for a major product launch today, with strong speculation pointing to the debut of the iPhone SE 4.
The iPhone SE 4 is the updated version of Apple’s budget-friendly smartphone and could bring significant upgrades while maintaining its affordability—a move aimed at expanding the company’s global market reach.
Just last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook took to X (formerly Twitter) to tease the launch. He cryptically wrote: "We’ve got something special coming your way. See you soon!"
His statement has fuelled major expectations that the event will focus on the long-awaited iPhone SE update.
A Long-Awaited Upgrade
Apple first introduced the iPhone SE series in 2016, offering a compact and cost-effective alternative to its flagship models. However, the device hasn’t seen a refresh since 2022, making this update crucial for consumers looking for an entry-level iPhone with modern capabilities. CEO Tim Cook recently hinted at today’s launch in a post on X, further fuelling anticipation.
Launch Event Details
The unveiling is set for 10:00 AM PT (11:30 PM IST) at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Tim Cook and senior Apple executives will take the stage to showcase the latest device. The event will be streamed live globally via Apple’s official website, YouTube channel, Apple TV app, and social media platforms.
Expected Pricing and Availability
According to reports, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch at $499 in the US, with pricing in other regions estimated at:
India: ₹50,000 – ₹55,000
UK: £449
Europe: €529
Canada: CAD 680
However, there is also speculation amongst Apple watchers that Apple could also rebrand the device as the iPhone 16E, which would mean the price could be slightly higher.
Pre-orders are expected to begin on February 23, 2025, with shipments starting from March 1 in key markets, including the US, UK, Canada, and India.
What’s New in the iPhone SE 4?
For the first time, an SE model may feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, a departure from its predecessor’s LCD screen. The phone is expected to adopt a flat-edge design similar to the iPhone 13, with a glass back, aluminum frame, and IP67 water and dust resistance.
Under the hood, the SE 4 may be powered by Apple’s A18 chip, the same processor expected in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, along with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB. Another significant upgrade could be Apple’s in-house 5G modem—a first for the SE lineup.
In terms of charging, the SE 4 is expected to switch to USB-C with fast-charging support, aligning with Apple’s latest devices. Battery performance is also anticipated to improve over the SE 3.
Camera and Imaging Features
Apple is likely to equip the iPhone SE 4 with a 12 MP rear camera, enhanced with Smart HDR and Night Mode, delivering better low-light photography. The front 12 MP TrueDepth camera is expected to support high-quality FaceTime calls and 4K video recording at 60 fps.
With the iPhone SE 4, Apple aims to bridge the gap between affordability and performance, providing consumers with a powerful yet cost-effective alternative to its premium models. As the official announcement draws near, all eyes are on Apple Park to see how this budget iPhone shapes up.
