Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, has been named among the world’s top 30 tech giants by Mary Meeker—making it the only Indian company on the prestigious global list.
In a testament to India’s growing digital and technological prowess, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has found itself in the coveted list of top 30 technological companies who are shaping the world, compiled by tech analyst and venture capitalist, Mary Meeker. Reliance is the only Indian company in the prestigious list.
Mary Meeker, known often as the “Queen of the Internet,” is famous for her influential annual Internet Trends Report, which is widely regarded as a definitive guide to the future of technology and digital innovation. Her firm, Bond Capital, released the latest report, after a gap of five years, outlining the top global companies driving technological advancement across sectors, from artificial intelligence and cloud computing to digital platforms and data infrastructure.
This year, the report is known for its focus on artificial intelligence (AI). Published through her firm Bond, this comprehensive analysis is focussed on AI and its breath-taking acceleration in the past few years. The report highlighted plunging computational costs, skyrocketing adoption rates, workforce transformations, and the growing global AI arms race. The report marks Meeker’s first major industry assessment since 2019, shifting focus from her traditional internet analysis to the defining technology of our era.
The inclusion of RIL, in many ways, highlights the oil-to-tech conglomerate as a technological powerhouse. Under the aegis of Mukesh Ambani, Reliance has strategically pivoted over the last decade to build a tech and telecom ecosystem, through Reliance Jio.
This transformation has not only reshaped India’s digital economy but also attracted global investors, including Facebook (now Meta).
Reliance’s entry in the top tier of global tech companies is significant at a time when India is pushing to position itself as a leader in emerging technologies. The company’s efforts in expanding high-speed connectivity, building digital services tailored to Indian users, and fostering homegrown innovation have helped bridge the country’s digital divide while creating scalable platforms with global potential.
RIL, taking to social media, said: “Reliance is the only Indian company among world’s Top 30 Technology powerhouses. Marking yet another milestone in its storied legacy, RIL emerges as the only Indian company on the list - a testament to decades of innovation, leadership, and nation-building. Reliance Industries has been featured among the world’s Top-30 technology giants by Mary Meeker and is the only Indian company on the list.”
“Under the visionary leadership of Shri Mukesh Ambani, RIL has redefined the nation’s digital landscape. From building a Digital India through Jio to pioneering daily digital transformation and creating future-ready platforms. A proud moment as we continue to innovate for India and the world,” company added.
