Kia India has kicked off pre-bookings for three new powertrain variants — the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG and Carnival Limousine Hybrid — expanding its portfolio of three-row MPVs with factory-fitted CNG and hybrid options. Pre-bookings are now open through Kia India’s authorised dealer network, while prices for all three models will be announced later.
The move comes as automakers increasingly broaden their powertrain offerings beyond conventional petrol and diesel models. Kia had recently showcased the three products at its Kia Inspiration Day, with the new variants aimed at giving buyers more choice across different fuel technologies and usage requirements.
Carens, Clavis CNG get 60-litre factory-fitted tanks
Both the Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG use the G1.5 engine with a 6-speed manual transmission and feature a factory-fitted CNG kit with a 60-litre tank capacity. Kia has also made CNG-specific changes to the vehicles, including engine calibration and modified suspension.
The two models come with 16-inch wheels and 16-inch disc brakes, while a CNG fuel-change switch and a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID with CNG distance-to-empty logic have also been added. A modified third-row seat-back frame is designed to provide a greater recline angle.
For retail customers, the Carens CNG will be available in the Premium (O) G1.5 6MT trim. The Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in HTE and HTE (O) G1.5 6MT variants.
CNG variants also target commercial mobility
Kia is extending the CNG powertrain beyond private buyers. Under its B2B and commercial mobility solutions, the Carens CNG will be available in the M-Drive G1.5 6MT trim, while the Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in the HTM G1.5 6MT configuration.
Carnival gets 1.6-litre turbo hybrid
The Carnival Limousine Hybrid will be offered in the Limousine+ G1.6T HEV 6AT trim, marking the addition of an electrified powertrain to Kia’s premium MPV portfolio. It gets 18-inch Crystal Cut Dual Tone Aero Alloy Wheels, Active Air Flaps and a Virtual Engine Sound System.
Other equipment includes a Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI display, retractable height-adjustable seat-back tables with wireless charging, ambient lighting, cup holders and leatherette-wrapped door trims.
Kia India has an installed annual production capacity of 4 lakh units at its Anantapur facility. The company has completed nearly 1.9 million vehicle dispatches, including more than 1.5 million domestic sales and over 3.67 lakh exports, and operates 910 touchpoints across 418 cities.
