Maruti Suzuki secures over 55% of India’s passenger vehicle exports in Q1FY27

Maruti Suzuki India accounted for more than 55% of India’s passenger vehicle (PV) exports during the first quarter of FY27, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The automaker exported 123,330 vehicles between April and June, up 28.23% from 96,181 units shipped during the same period a year earlier. India’s overall passenger vehicle exports rose 8.8% year-on-year to 222,392 units during the quarter.
Maruti Suzuki, in an official release, revealed that it has also dominated the list of India’s top exported passenger vehicles, with the Fronx, Jimny 5-Door and e Vitara featuring among the leading models. Six of the company’s models were among the top eight exported passenger vehicles from India during the quarter.
Fronx SUV crosses 2-lakh export milestone
According to MSIL, the Fronx SUV has emerged as a key contributor to its export performance, crossing the 200,000-unit export milestone this month.
Manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the FRONX reached its first 100,000 exports in 25 months. The next 100,000 units were shipped in around 13 months, indicating a faster pace of exports.The model is currently exported to nearly 90 countries.
Maruti Suzuki has retained its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years. The company currently exports 17 models to nearly 120 markets globally.
Maruti Suzuki maintains export lead
Commenting on the company’s export performance, Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Sustained focus on exports has earned the company the number one position in passenger vehicle exports from India. Illustrating this leadership, all three of India's top exported passenger vehicles in Q1 FY 26-27 were from Maruti Suzuki."
He also stated that since FY 24-25, the Fronx has been country's leading exported passenger vehicle, and its performance underlines the growing demand for Indian-made vehicles in international markets.”
Hyundai and Nissan also featured among the leading passenger vehicle exporters from India, ranking fourth and seventh, respectively, during the quarter.
Maruti Suzuki’s exports have grown as the company has expanded the number of models and markets it serves, with its vehicles now shipped to nearly 120 countries. It has retained its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years.
