Mercedes-Benz India reached record sales, thanks to GST 2.0 and festive demand, with a 36% rise in September. Over 2,500 cars were sold in nine festive days, leading to a record Q2 FY 25-26 with 5,119 units.

Mercedes-Benz India has said it achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in its history in India as the luxury carmaker received a solid response after GST 2.0 reforms, leading to its best-ever September (+36%), and record sales during the ongoing festive period. 

The company sold a record 2,500+ cars in 9 days during the festive period, the highest in India, fulfilling the pent-up demand. With this, Q2 FY 25-26 sales recorded their best ever period at 5,119 units. 

The company’s Apr-Sept FY26 sales came in at 9,357 units, with 4% growth. Mercedes says it recorded its highest ever monthly sales for the LWB E-Class sedan and GLC, GLE, GLS and AMG G63 range of SUVs. “Our new portfolio, combined with financial programmes under the ‘Dream Days’ campaign, resulted in overwhelming demand…we expect this festive buying spirit to continue in October as well, with upcoming festivities including Dhanteras and Diwali,” says the company.

“The reduction in the GST rates has certainly improved customer sentiment with its appropriate timing; as car prices are increasing owing to macro-economic challenges like adverse forex movement, rising operational cost, etc,” says Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes-Benz’s ‘manufaktur’ range comprises 75% of all top-end luxury vehicles sold in India. AMG G 63 registered its highest-ever monthly sales despite a waiting period of more than 6 months.

There was a steady demand for core segments comprising LWB E-Class, GLC and GLE SUVs as Mercedes-Benz registered a growth of 10% in Q2 FY 25-26. “Core Segment’ continued to play an important role with 60% penetration in Mercedes-Benz India’s overall sales in India. The success of the LWB E-Class remains unchallenged in India, making it the highest-selling luxury car in India with a 47% y-o-y growth for the luxury sedan in the Q2 FY 25-26 period,” the company said.

In the entry luxury segment in Q2 FY 25-26, the company said it continued its BEV acceleration in India, with a penetration of 8% of overall sales as the portfolio grew by 10% with the highest-ever sales for the EQS SUV.
