Ola Electric on Friday launched the S1Z electric scooter range, becoming the first scooter range in India to use the company's indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology.

The S1Z is available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants, priced at an introductory ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 (ex-showroom), respectively. The 3.1 kWh variant offers a range of up to 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh version offers up to 301 km (IDC).

The S1Z uses Ola Electric's 46-series LFP cell platform, which was developed at the company's Battery Innovation Centre and is manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory.

The company said developing and manufacturing the LFP cells in-house has helped lower battery costs. Batteries are the single largest cost component of an electric vehicle, and Ola said the move will allow it to bring LFP technology to lower-priced scooters.

Ola S1Z features, range and deliveries

The S1Z will be available in four colours: White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green. All variants come with 12-inch wheels.

Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant are scheduled to begin in December 2026, while deliveries of the 5.1 kWh variant will start in March 2027.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric, said, "The true measure of innovation of our indigenous Bharat Cell LFP technology is how quickly it reaches everyday Indians. The S1Z delivers on that promise. It is the first scooter range to bring our made-in-India LFP technology to the heart of the market, where millions of customers make their mobility decisions.

"We believe affordability shouldn’t mean settling for less. As we continue building India's EV ecosystem from cell to vehicle, products like the S1Z will play a critical role in taking our mission of bringing EVs to every Indian household."

The S1Z runs on Ola's MoveOS 5 software and gets features such as cruise control, regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

It also gets geo, time and mode fencing, ride statistics and energy insights through the Ola Electric app. The scooter comes with the company's Easy Park feature, which allows riders to move in and out of tight parking spaces with a twist of the wrist.

The S1Z will also be the first product range to be rolled out through Ola Electric's next phase of retail expansion, which will include its first dealer-operated stores alongside its existing company-owned retail network. The company said this will expand access to its products across the country.

Basis this announcement, stock of Ola Electric Mobility rose by 4.51% to trade at ₹39.35.
