Pawan Munjal-backed Euler Motors on Thursday inaugurated a dedicated four-wheeler manufacturing line at its Palwal facility in Haryana, investing ₹100 crore to expand production capacity as demand for electric commercial vehicles gains momentum. The expansion takes the company’s manufacturing footprint to 40 acres, with annual production capacity of up to 24,000 vehicles.
The new line will manufacture Euler Motors’ four-wheeler portfolio, comprising the one-tonne Turbo EV 1000 electric truck and Storm EV, which the company describes as India’s first commercial vehicle equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The facility was inaugurated by Dr Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp.
Euler’s 4W volumes rise sharply
Euler said electric four-wheeler cargo vehicle penetration has increased from around 1% to 5.8% within 10 months of the Turbo EV 1000’s launch, with the company estimating its market share at around 28%. Monthly four-wheeler sales have also risen from about 40 units in April last year to roughly 800 units in June this year, according to the company.
“The four-wheeler cargo segment has long run on ICE for years because no electric vehicle could compete with ICE on the right combination of performance and affordability,” Saurav Kumar, Founder and CEO, Euler Motors, said. He added that the Turbo EV 1000 and Storm EV had helped bridge that gap, with the new facility providing capacity to meet growing demand.
At full ramp-up, the plant will operate two shifts a day, supported by a third hybrid shift. It includes an automated four-wheeler assembly conveyor, dedicated assembly lines, a body shop and an integrated battery-pack assembly line.
Focus on localisation and testing
Euler said its manufacturing process includes testing at multiple stages, covering suspension frames, drivetrain and steering systems. Battery packs undergo thermal cycling, thermal shock, water-wading, drop, vibration, mechanical shock and abuse testing under real-world load conditions.
“A commercial vehicle earns its keep only if it performs the same on day one and day one thousand,” Gaurav Kumar, Head-Supply Chain & Manufacturing, Euler Motors, said. He added that the company has brought key vehicle components, including chassis, axles and battery packs, in-house.
Scaling electric commercial mobility
Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, said, “The expansion of Euler’s Palwal facility, with a dedicated four-wheeler production line, represents more than an increase in manufacturing capacity—it is a step towards shaping the future of India’s commercial mobility.”
The company said the facility will strengthen its manufacturing footprint as it scales its four-wheeler business and create skilled employment opportunities in the region. Euler’s vehicles have collectively covered 504 million km, while its sales and service network spans more than 100 touchpoints across India.
Meanwhile, Euler Motors asserted that the Turbo EV 1000 and Storm EV are designed and manufactured in India, with the new capacity aimed at accelerating the shift from internal-combustion-engine vehicles to electric commercial mobility.
