Adani Group on Tuesday announced a $100 billion direct investment to build renewable-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035, marking one of the world’s largest integrated energy-and-compute commitments.
The initiative aims to create a long-term sovereign energy and compute platform to position India as a global leader in the emerging “Intelligence Revolution.” The Group estimates the investment will catalyse an additional $150 billion across server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, and allied industries, creating a projected $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem over the next decade.
“The world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution,” said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, adding that nations mastering the synergy between energy and compute will shape the next decade.
The road map expands on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW national data centre footprint, targeting 5 GW of capacity. The platform will integrate renewable power generation, transmission networks and hyperscale AI compute in a unified architecture.
Landmark partnerships include collaborations with Google to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, and with Microsoft across Hyderabad and Pune. The Group is also deepening ties with Flipkart to build a second AI data centre tailored for digital commerce and high-performance computing workloads.
Facilities will feature advanced liquid cooling systems and high-efficiency power designs, with dedicated compute capacity for Indian large language models (LLMs) and national data initiatives.
Central to the strategy is Adani Green Energy’s 30 GW Khavda renewable energy project, alongside an additional $55 billion commitment to expand green capacity, including large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
To reduce global supply chain risks, the Group plans domestic manufacturing partnerships for transformers, grid systems and power electronics, strengthening Aatmanirbhar supply chains.
Aligned with the PM Gati Shakti programme, the Group will embed AI across logistics and industrial corridors, reserving significant GPU capacity for Indian startups and research institutions. It also plans specialised AI engineering curricula and fellowship programmes to address skills gaps.
Adani Group has invited global technology and sovereign partners to collaborate in building India’s next-generation AI infrastructure platform.
