Bharat Forge announced on Monday that the electronics division of Kalyani Powertrain, its wholly owned subsidiary, will enter the Indian server market in collaboration with the US-based AMD. The company announced its plans on February 24 via a filing to the exchanges, highlighting the integration of AMD’s technology with domestically manufactured solutions.
Through this partnership, Kalyani Powertrain aims to bring AMD’s advanced EPYC-based server technologies to India. This collaboration marks a significant step in enhancing India’s server infrastructure, fostering local manufacturing, and reducing reliance on imports.
“With a focus on improving India’s server and data centre capabilities, this initiative is an important move towards positioning India as a major player in the global tech industry,” Bharat Forge said in the filing.

The servers produced through this partnership will feature AMD EPYC™ processors, known for their energy efficiency, security features, and cost-effectiveness for data centres. The partnership intends to cater the automotive, telecommunications, cloud computing and AI-related industries.
There are also plans to incorporate AMD Instinct™ accelerators in the future to enhance AI and high-performance computing capabilities.
AMD will also provide design collateral and technical documentation to support the electronics division of Kalyani Powertrain in building and optimising its solutions, helping ensure they meet global standards, the filing said.
At a recent event in Pune, Maharashtra, leaders from both Kalyani Powertrain and AMD unveiled the first EPYC CPU-based server, officially launching the strategic alliance. This collaboration is expected to strengthen India's data ecosystem, empowering enterprises, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and government organizations with high-performance, cost-efficient servers designed for AI workloads, cloud computing, and large-scale data processing.
"India has immense potential for growth in the server industry,” said Vinay Sinha, AMD Corporate Vice President, Sales – India in a statement.
Bharat Forge dropped to a 52-week low today on the NSE to ₹1,037.15, down 2% from its previous session’s close of ₹1,058.95. The shares have dropped almost 20% since January this year.
