In a major boost to infrastructure and connectivity in Bihar, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today announced the launch of 4 new Amrit Bharat trains, upcoming railway projects, and the inauguration of two new Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) in the state.

These initiatives are expected to improve regional connectivity, foster digital growth, and boost economic opportunities across Bihar. The announcements come amid Assembly Elections, which are scheduled to be held in Bihar this year.

Four new Amrit Bharat trains connecting Bihar to key cities have been announced and are expected to start soon. These include: A daily Amrit Bharat train from Patna to Delhi; a weekly service from Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar); a weekly train from Malda to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar); and a new Amrit Bharat train from Saharsa to Amritsar.

Additionally, a daily train from Jogbani to Erode (South India) is also set to begin operations soon.

The government has also announced several railway projects worth over ₹6,173 crore in Bihar, which include: Bhagalpur-Jamalpur third line (₹1,156 crore, 53 km), Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya doubling (₹2,017 crore, 104 km), and Rampurhat-Bhagalpur doubling (₹3,000 crore, 177 km).

In the technology infrastructure space, two new Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) in Bihar are ready and set for inauguration. These include: STPI Patna, Patliputra (New Building), built at an approximate cost of ₹53 crore; and STPI Darbhanga, developed at a cost of over ₹10 crore.
