Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged global content creators to make India their playground, stressing that the nation's journey to a developed economy has just begun and India offers a huge "orange economy" opportunity to the world.
"India is progressing fast towards becoming the third-largest economy. India has the third-largest startup ecosystem. India's journey to a developed economy has just begun. This is the right time to create in India and create for the world," PM Modi said at the inaugural ceremony of World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai.
"I urge all the global investors and creators to make India their content playground," PM Modi said.
PM said India's orange economy is on the rise. Orange economy refers to the entire ecosystem of creative economy, ranging from creative aspect of content creation to investment in the content.

"There is evolution of the orange economy in India. Foreign audience is trying to understand the Indian movies rather than only watching," said Modi.
"OTT industry in India has shown 10X growth in the last couple of years. India's creative economy can increase its contribution in the GDP in the times to come. In this Orange economy boom, I would like to tell all young creators that they are bringing a new wave into the economy," PM said, while also assuring creators outside India that they will feel a natural connect with India.
"We are committed to helping you realise your dreams. We are ensuring an environment that values your dreams. I have full faith on content creators. I have met young creators, gamers, and feel their energy," Modi said.
"WAVES will see beautiful waves in the future. WAVES awards will also be launched in the future. It will be the most lucrative award in the field of arts and creativity," he added.
PM also touched upon creative responsibility. "More sensitivity is needed in the tech driven 21st century. We need to make humans more sensitive. We cannot reduce humans to robots. We need to protect young minds from anti humanity approach and there is a role WAVES has to play," Modi added.
