After a turbulent few days marked by large-scale delays and cancellations, IndiGo said on Sunday that its flight operations had shown further significant and sustained improvement after several days of heavy disruptions that left passengers across the country facing delays and cancellations.

The airline said the first signs of recovery were seen on Saturday, and that the improvement continued through Sunday, with fewer cancellations, a higher on-time performance and earlier communication to passengers whose flights were affected.

A spokesperson for IndiGo said the airline’s teams were working relentlessly to stabilise operations, adding that the main priority was to give customers a more reliable and predictable travel experience.

According to the airline, IndiGo was on track to operate more than 1,650 flights on Sunday, up from around 1,500 the previous day. The carrier also reported a sharp rise in on-time performance to 75%, up from roughly 30% the day before.

IndiGo said its refund and luggage processes were now fully active, covering both direct bookings and those made through travel agents. The airline advised passengers to continue checking their flight status before heading to the airport and shared links to its flight-status and refund portals.

The company also said its confidence in restoring stability to the full network had grown. IndiGo now expects operations to be broadly stable by 10 December, slightly earlier than the previously estimated window of 10 to 15 December.

“We deeply regret the immense inconvenience this has caused and extend our heartfelt apologies to all our customers,” the spokesperson said, adding that the airline appreciated the patience shown by passengers as well as the effort put in by employees and partners during the disruption. IndiGo said it was coordinating closely with authorities and stakeholders to ensure a quick return to normal operations.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed IndiGo to process all outstanding passenger refunds promptly. Additionally, it has mandated that refunds for all cancelled or disrupted flights be completed by 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Airlines are also advised not to charge any rescheduling fees for passengers affected by cancellations.
