Luminous Power Technologies is pushing deeper into consumer-facing energy solutions with the launch of its Edge Go series, a portable power system that doubles as an entertainment device. With this move, the company aims to align with younger, mobile-first consumers demanding flexible energy solutions.

“The idea was to bring something edgy that adapts to how people want to live, work, and play,” said Preeti Bajaj, CEO & MD of Luminous Power. “We saw a generation of consumers who are mobile gamers, content creators, and off-grid explorers. They don’t want energy to define their way of life; they want energy to adapt to them.”

2025 is shaping up to be the year of electric car sales. “This is energy tech revolutionised,” Bajaj said. “It’s not just a battery in a box; it’s power and entertainment rolled into one. It bridges the gap between home appliances and outdoor life.”

Luminous is already present in more than 100 million homes across India through its inverters, batteries, and solar solutions. Bajaj said the strategy now is to keep evolving with consumer needs—whether for affordable home power, rooftop solar, or portable energy tech. “Scale is non-negotiable in a country like India. When we innovate, we want it in the hands of many,” she said.

The Edge Go series comes in variants ranging from 500 watts to 1,500 watts, with the higher-capacity units capable of powering up to 80–90 appliances. While Bajaj declined to give specific revenue projections from the new line, she noted the addressable market is vast, with India’s young demographic making up 35% of the world’s youth. “I would love for everyone to have it,” she said. The company clocked revenues of ₹4,440 crore as of March 31, 2024, according to Tracxn.

On the larger energy transition, Bajaj acknowledged challenges around grid disparities, financing, and quality standards. Luminous has opened solar training academies, including one in Varanasi in partnership with an NGO and the Australian High Commission, to improve workmanship and ensure safe installations. “We need to raise the standards, not just of consumer products but also in how they are deployed,” she said.
