Continuing its strong growth momentum for the 22nd consecutive quarter, power major Tata Power posted a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹1,306 crore, up 25% YoY, and revenue of ₹17,328 crore, up 7% YoY, in the January-March quarter of FY2024-25. The company’s fourth quarter revenue surged to ₹17,238 crore, up 7% from ₹16,256 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA for Q4 FY25 rose 14% to ₹3,829 crore on strong performance across the core businesses comprising generation, T&D, and renewables.

The company attributed higher power sales from all generating plants, ramp-up of all module and cell lines in Tirunelveli, and a 1.5 lakh installation milestone in the solar rooftop business pan-India to the overall Q4 growth.

The company says its distribution segment recorded a 73% YoY growth in PAT, driven primarily by Odisha Discoms recording 3x growth in PAT at ₹275 crore.

Tata Power posted its highest-ever annual revenue of ₹64,502 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2025. PAT for the full year rose 26% to ₹5,197 crore, crossing the milestone of ₹5,000 crore for the first time. EBITDA rose to a record level of ₹14,468 crore, up 14%.

Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power, said: "FY25 has been a remarkable year for Tata Power. Q4FY25 marks the 22nd consecutive quarter of PAT growth. For the first time, we surpassed 1 GW in renewable capacity additions within a single year and are now targeting 2 GW in FY26. Our rooftop solar business has performed impressively, reaching over 1.5 lakh installations, with a total installed capacity of 3 GW. Additionally, our 4.3 GW cell and 4.3 GW module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, produced 3,291 MW of modules and 846 MW of cells during the year. Our Distribution segment also (saw) PAT from Odisha Discoms surging 3x in Q4FY25 and 43% in FY25.”

In FY25, Tata Power commissioned over 2.5 GW of renewable capacity, comprising 1 GW of in-house utility-scale projects, 600 MW of rooftop solar (782 MWp), and 900 MW for third-party customers, showcasing its expertise to execute at speed and scale.

The company has nearly 3 GW capacity under development across states like Karnataka and Maharashtra. It has secured over 6,800 MW of grid connectivity and has acquired more than 30,000 acres of land for setting up the ongoing 5.4 GW of projects in the pipeline.

“To meet the FY26 all-India expected peak demand of 277 GW, all our renewable and thermal generation plants continue to operate at optimal capacity to ensure the most cost-effective and reliable power supply."

In FY25, Tata Power supplied over 64.7 billion units of electricity to the grid through its diverse portfolio of conventional and renewable generation assets, playing a key role in meeting the country's rising energy demand. Additionally, its Discoms supplied around 47 billion units of electricity to its consumer base, reinforcing its position as a reliable and responsible power company.
