Atelier Expressions announced Tuesday the acquisition of J.L. Coquet, a French Limoges porcelain house established in 1824. This expands the base for this luxury and lifestyle venture of TVS Venu International Holdings, the international holding company of the TVS Motor founding family.
The venture is headquartered in Singapore and is going to be led by Tara S. Venu, who is serving as the executive director of the company. Sébastien Cich will continue as CEO of J.L. Coquet, with Renaud Paul-Dauphin, former Head of Tableware at Hermès, joining Atelier Expressions in Paris as Director.
“I have long admired the creations of J.L. Coquet, which reflect a timeless heritage and impeccable craftsmanship. We are very excited about the opportunities this partnership presents. J.L. As India’s growth story gains momentum and the number of billionaires rises, the country’s luxury market is seeing a boom like never before, with the taste for luxury moving beyond the metros. From high-end watches and jewellery to lavish residences and luxurious holidays, Indians are splurging like never before. Storied luxury brands are rushing in to satiate this demand, often roping in Indian celebs as ambassadors.
Atelier Expressions aims to build a global portfolio of heritage-led brands focussed on craftsmanship and design. The acquisition strengthens its position in the luxury segment by adding a two-century-old French brand known for its artisanal porcelain and signature Jaune de Chrome enamel technique. Under Atelier Expressions, the brand plans to expand globally with new showrooms in New York and Seoul, and projects such as Studio Coquet, a creative lab for chef collaborations.
“TVS Venu International offers a tremendous opportunity to elevate J.L. Coquet’s international footprint while preserving our artistic integrity and craftsmanship,” said Sébastien Cich, CEO, J.L. Coquet, in a statement.
J.L. Coquet produces hand-finished porcelain pieces through over 20 stages of craftsmanship and holds both the IGP Limoges and EPV (Living Heritage Company) labels.
The products of the acquired company are used by Michelin-star chefs and luxury hotels, including the Four Seasons, The Dorchester, and St. Regis. Meanwhile, the Indian lifestyle venture has brands such as Khadak, an Indian restaurant in Dubai by Chef Naved Nasir, and Hedon, a London-based luxury motorcycle helmet brand under its portfolio of clients.
