In a bid to empower women and make mobility safer after dark for them, Uber India has teamed up with Nike for the After Dark Tour, a first-of-its-kind night run set to be the biggest 10K race in India. The initiative aims to champion women runners while spotlighting the need for safe and reliable transport options after dark.

Even as more women take control of their schedules for work, fitness, or leisure, concerns around nighttime safety remain a major barrier, a recent survey conducted by Uber across major Indian metros found that 85% of women have skipped or cancelled a night outing due to transport or safety issues. Meanwhile, 79% said they feel safer using ridesharing apps at night compared to other modes of transport.

As the official ride partner for the event, Uber will offer attendees safe and convenient transportation to and from the ADT venue — including the post-race after-party. The goal, according to Uber, is to make nighttime mobility more accessible so women no longer have to compromise on their choices.

“Women shouldn’t have to plan their lives around safety concerns — they should feel empowered to step out whenever they choose. As the official ride partner, Uber is helping make the night feel accessible again - by supporting safe, reliable mobility that meets women where they are,” said Shiva Shailendran, director – consumer & growth, Uber India and South Asia.

Survey data also revealed that 94% of Uber users believe ride-hailing enables them to make spontaneous night plans, and 88% said it helps them access late-evening work, social, or fitness opportunities.

According to an Oxford Economics study commissioned by Uber, access to ride-hailing could boost India’s female workforce by over 6% by 2028 in top metros — highlighting the broader impact of safe urban mobility on women's empowerment.

Nike India GM Tarundeep Singh said the run, which will be held in Mumbai, is about “connection, celebration, and confidence,” and the partnership with Uber will help make that experience seamless for women participants.
