Uber India has partnered with travel platform ixigo to bring train ticket booking to its app, allowing users to search and book rail journeys, check PNR status and arrange rides to and from railway stations without leaving the platform. The move marks another step in Uber’s push to build a broader intercity travel offering in India rather than remain focused primarily on point-to-point cab services.

Under the partnership, ixigo will bring its train-ticketing technology and post-booking capabilities to Uber, while Uber will connect the rail journey with its existing first- and last-mile mobility services. The companies said the integration is aimed at making the travel experience more seamless, from reaching the station to completing the onward journey after arrival.

Commenting on the partnership, Arnab Kumar, Director, Business Development, Uber India and South Asia, noted, “With train ticket booking on the Uber app, riders can now book their train tickets, check their PNR status, and seamlessly connect to and from the railway station, all within a single app. We’re pleased to partner with ixigo to bring together their expertise in train ticketing with Uber’s mobility platform, making the overall travel experience more seamless and convenient for riders.”

From station rides to train bookings

The launch changes Uber’s role in the rail journey. The company already has dedicated pickup and drop-off zones at railway stations in cities including Ahmedabad, Secunderabad and Howrah. With train bookings now available inside the app, Uber can participate earlier in the travel-planning process rather than only providing transportation before or after a train journey.

Users can access the feature through the ‘Bus & Train’ section on the Uber app, enter their origin, destination and travel date, select a train and complete the booking. Ticket details and PNR status can also be accessed within Uber.

ixigo extends its rail technology reach

For ixigo, the partnership provides another channel to distribute its train-booking capabilities. The company describes itself as India’s largest online travel agency in the train category and has built its offering around booking, post-booking support and travel-related utilities.

ixigo reported more than 57 crore annual active users in FY2026, according to the company’s profile included in the release. Its broader platform covers rail, air, bus and hotel bookings, with its technology increasingly being integrated into other consumer platforms.

Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO & Rajnish Kumar , Group Co-CEO, ixigo said, “As India's largest OTA in the train category, our focus has always been on making rail travel simpler, more reliable and stress-free. By partnering with Uber, we're extending that experience beyond the train itself, enabling travellers to plan their journey seamlessly from their doorstep to their destination.”

The Uber partnership follows ixigo-owned AbhiBus’ earlier tie-up with Uber for intercity bus bookings, extending the relationship between the two companies beyond a single travel category.
