The Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday that it has prepared a three-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) project pipeline. These includes 852 projects across the Centre and states, with a total project cost of more than ₹17 lakh crore. 

Notably, Andhra Pradesh tops the list of states and Union Territories with 270 projects worth ₹1.16 lakh crore, followed by Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh, which secured projects worth ₹87,639 crore and ₹65,496 crore, respectively.

According to the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance, out of the total 852 projects, 232 PPP projects with a combined cost of ₹13.15 lakh crore will be undertaken by eight central departments and infrastructure ministries. The remaining 620 projects, worth ₹3.84 lakh crore, will be implemented by 20 states and Union Territories.

The year-wise sectoral distribution of PPP projects in states shows that social and commercial infrastructure leads in 2025–26 with 186 projects, followed by transport and logistics with 161 projects and energy with 25 projects. Water and sanitation account for 29 projects in the same year.

In 2026–27, water and sanitation see a sharp rise to 75 projects, while social and commercial infrastructure drop to 68 projects and transport and logistics to 36 projects. Energy projects decline to 16. By 2027–28, the number of projects falls sharply across all sectors, with transport and logistics at 11 projects, and energy, social and commercial infrastructure, and water and sanitation each limited to just four to five projects.

Road transport tops central infra push with Rs 8.77 lakh crore projects

Among the central infrastructure ministries, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has the largest share, with 108 projects worth ₹8.77 lakh crore. This is followed by the Ministry of Power, which will take up 46 projects costing ₹3.4 lakh crore. The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has 29 projects with a total cost of ₹12,254 crore.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will implement 22 projects worth ₹37,644 crore, while the Ministry of Railways will carry out 13 projects with a total cost of ₹30,904 crore.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation will undertake 11 projects costing ₹2,262 crore. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has two projects worth ₹6,646 crore. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas will take up one project with an estimated cost of ₹8,743 crore.
