A chemical engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, Kumar credits his understanding of business fundamentals and building a company with a sharp focus on startups to his early stints in the consulting space. Started in 2009 as a market research firm, Kumar dedicated the first five years of RedSeer in building a primary research arm. This proved handy for the company in 2014 when it realised that no other player was providing insights on the emerging Internet businesses in India. It decided to use its ready-made research capabilities to help startups, and venture capital and private equity firms make informed decisions. Besides the home market, it also offers consulting services for the Middle East and Southeast Asian markets. Last year, RedSeer was one of the leading advisers to private equity deals in the Internet space, which helped the business grow significantly in FY21 despite the pandemic.
