The box office battle of the sequels seems to have found a clear winner, this weekend, as the difference in the collections of the films released on the weekend before that - Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 has only gotten wider this Sunday.

Dhadak 2 has so far collected ₹18.70 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk data. The film is helmed by director Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud9 Studio.

The cast features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri in the lead, supported by strong performances from Saurabh Sachdeva, Zakir Hussain, Deeksha Joshi, and Vipin Sharma in pivotal roles.

Dhadak 2 recorded an overall 28.30% Hindi occupancy on August 9. The viewership during morning shows stood at 6.84%. This improved to 19.29% during the afternoon, before picking up further to 38.91% in the evening slots. The highest turnout was registered during the night shows, with 48.17% occupancy.

Among regional performances, Bengaluru and Chennai emerged as the top-performing cities with the highest occupancy levels across showtimes. In contrast, major markets such as Mumbai and Delhi reported relatively weaker attendance, with less than 30% of seats filled per show on average.

Meanwhile, Son of Sardaar 2 has reported a better India net collection of ₹42 crore as of August 10. The film recorded an overall 32.52% occupancy for its Hindi screenings on Sunday.

The day began on a moderate note with morning shows reporting 11.04% occupancy. As the day progressed, the footfall increased significantly, with afternoon shows witnessing a sharp rise to 40.40%. The momentum carried into the evening, where occupancy peaked at 48.96%. However, unlike Dhadak 2, the night shows saw a drop, closing the day with 29.66% occupancy.

Most metros across India have seen more than half of their theatre shows occupied with the films.

Featuring an ensemble cast led by Ajay Devgn, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul Dev, and Ashwini Kalsekar in pivotal roles.
