Budget 2022: WPI inflation eases; fruits, vegetables less costly

WPI food inflation eased to 3.15% in FY21, from 8.42% in FY20 as different categories turned less costly. Fruits and vegetables topped the list, with inflation in the segment down to 2.62% in FY21, against a high of 18.55% in FY20. Condiments and spices was another segment where inflation fell to 3.87% in FY21, from 11.03% in the previous fiscal. This is in sharp contrast to CPI food inflation, which rose to 7.69% in FY21, compared 6.71% in FY20.
