BEML Limited, previously known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited is an Indian public sector undertaking that operates under the Ministry of Defence. The company works across multiple business verticals to serve the key sectors of defence, rail, power, mining and infrastructure. The defence and aerospace vertical produces high-mobility vehicles, weapon systems and aircraft towing tractors. The mining and construction vertical manufactures bulldozers, excavators and dump trucks. The rail and metro vertical manufactures rail coaches, electric multiple units and metro cars. BEML has manufacturing units in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Palakkad and Kolar Gold Fields, which are supported by 6000+ employees. In October 2024, BEML was awarded a contract worth ₹866.87 crore by the Integral Coach Factory to manufacture two high-speed train sets - the first to be produced in India that will be capable of reaching speeds up to 280 km/h.
