Amid evolving market conditions and heightened global uncertainty, Axis Mutual Fund has pitched a balanced allocation to large- and mid-cap stocks as a strategy for investors seeking growth while managing volatility.

The fund house said its Axis Large & Mid Cap Fund has delivered a 17.33% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) since its launch in 2018 under the Regular Plan-Growth option, as of June 30, 2026. A one-time investment of ₹10,000 at inception would have grown to around ₹33,800 over the same period.

Axis Mutual Fund said the current market environment offers opportunities across both large- and mid-cap segments. While large-cap companies continue to provide stability during periods of uncertainty, mid-cap firms have demonstrated stronger earnings growth, supported by India's long-term economic expansion. A diversified allocation across the two segments can help investors participate in growth while reducing portfolio volatility, it said.

Shreyash Devalkar, Head of Equity at Axis Mutual Fund, said India's long-term growth continues to be driven by structural factors such as rising consumption, increased manufacturing, formalisation of the economy, growing private-sector investments and improving global competitiveness. "In such an environment, we believe investors can benefit from a portfolio that combines established market leaders with emerging businesses that have the potential to scale over time. As a fund house that believes in quality and growth, our focus remains on identifying companies with durable business models, strong management teams and the ability to generate sustainable earnings growth across market cycles," Devalkar said.

The fund follows a research-driven investment strategy focused on quality large- and mid-cap companies with sustainable earnings potential. Axis Mutual Fund said it has also sharpened the fund's portfolio positioning by increasing allocations to high-conviction ideas, reducing the number of domestic equity holdings from 96 in December 2025 to 81 in June 2026.

The portfolio has raised exposure to sectors such as auto components, electrical equipment and industrial products, alongside companies expected to benefit from manufacturing-led growth, government policy support, and supply chain diversification.

The fund has also increased its allocation to global equities to capture international growth opportunities, including themes such as artificial intelligence, while continuing to monitor valuation trends across domestic and overseas markets.

According to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the Indian mutual fund industry's assets under management (AUM) stood at ₹81.58 lakh crore in May 2026. The Large & Mid Cap Fund category accounted for around ₹3.40 lakh crore of AUM, reflecting sustained investor interest in the segment.
