RRP Electronics Limited has secured a 101-acre industrial land parcel in Maharashtra as it accelerates plans to establish a large-scale, integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging campus in the state.
The Navi Mumbai-headquartered company has been allocated Industrial Plot No. A-1 in the Khalapur Phase-3 and Expansion Industrial Area. Spread across approximately 101 acres (around 410,000 square metres), the proposed campus is designed to house multiple Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) production lines, advanced wafer-level packaging (WLP) facilities and, subject to regulatory approvals, potential semiconductor fabrication (fab) units.
Rajendra Chodankar, Chairman of RRP Electronics, described the allocation as a critical milestone in the company’s expansion blueprint.
“The allocation of this ~101-acre land parcel at Khalapur is a foundational step in RRP Electronics’ journey to build a large-scale, integrated semiconductor manufacturing campus in Maharashtra. Our intent is to develop this site in phases, bringing together packaging, advanced wafer-level packaging, and potential fabrication capabilities over time, along with necessary approvals,” Chodankar said.
The Khalapur development will be executed in phases in line with RRP’s broader investment roadmap. The company has outlined a Phase I outlay of ₹12,035 crore and a Phase II investment of ₹24,000 crore, taking the total proposed capital expenditure beyond ₹36,000 crore.
The integrated campus model aims to co-locate packaging, advanced wafer-level packaging and potential fabrication capabilities within a single industrial site, allowing operational synergies and future scalability as demand expands.
RRP Electronics currently operates an OSAT facility in Mahape catering to automotive, industrial and telecommunications sectors. The new campus is expected to significantly expand its footprint across high-growth segments including automotive electronics, industrial systems, telecom infrastructure and consumer applications.
Chodankar said the project is aligned with the government’s semiconductor push. “This development aligns with the India Semiconductor Mission and the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. It enables more of the semiconductor value chain to be anchored within the country, strengthening India’s position as a self-reliant and trusted manufacturing hub for global customers,” he noted.
Backed by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as a strategic investor and supported by technical collaborations with Taiwanese partners for legacy packaging and memory modules, RRP Electronics is positioning itself as an early domestic anchor in India’s evolving semiconductor ecosystem as the country works to localise critical chip manufacturing capabilities
