Wipro Ltd on Tuesday unveiled an Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on Anthropic's Claude models, deepening its bet on enterprise artificial intelligence as companies increasingly look to embed AI into core business processes.

The Bengaluru-based facility, launched under Wipro's newly created AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit, will serve as a hub for developing AI-led solutions across sectors such as healthcare, mortgage services, airlines, manufacturing and consumer goods. The company also plans to certify 10,000 front-line delivery experts on Claude models over the next 18 months, creating a large pool of practitioners capable of deploying AI systems in enterprise environments.

Building AI talent at scale

According to Wipro, the centre strengthens its ability to scale AI adoption by integrating Claude capabilities across the Wipro Intelligence™ stack, including delivery, functional and industry platforms.

The company has also been building a global network of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) trained on Claude models. These engineers work within client environments, combining business process knowledge with hands-on expertise in AI deployment.

"Wipro has been building a global talent pool of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) trained on Claude models, with a deep understanding of model behaviour and real-world application," the company said in a statement, adding that the objective is to accelerate AI integration into workflows and deliver measurable outcomes.

Focus on enterprise adoption

The CoE will be used to co-develop AI-native platforms and industry-specific applications with clients in live operating environments. Wipro said the initiative reflects a "proof over promise" approach to enterprise AI adoption, with an emphasis on translating technological capabilities into business outcomes.

The company is also embedding Claude models into its own finance, human resources and sales functions as part of a broader internal transformation programme.

"This marks a fundamental shift in how we deliver and advances our strategy of being consulting-led and AI-powered. By combining the power of Claude models with our deep domain and enterprise expertise, we are driving measurable business outcomes for our clients," said Srini Pallia, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Wipro.

Expanding AI-native capabilities

Pallia said the combination of embedded AI talent, platform integration and enterprise expertise would help accelerate AI adoption at scale.

"Embedding Forward Deployed Engineers within client environments, alongside integrating AI across our own operations, enables us to accelerate enterprise-scale adoption with a clear focus on business value," he said.

The launch comes as IT services firms intensify investments in generative AI platforms and specialised talent to meet growing enterprise demand for AI-led automation, productivity gains and business transformation.
