Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, as per the latest poll results. Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress (INC) has emerged victorious in Telangana.

This year's assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram have been touted as a curtain-raiser for the Lok Sabha elections next year.

As per the latest trends, the BJP has crossed the halfway mark in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led party is currently leading in 155 of the 230 assembly seats, whereas Congress is ahead in 68 seats. BJP, which has been in power in MP since 2003 barring the 15 months between December 2018 and March 2020, had earlier said that it is eyeing to cross the 150-mark in the state. In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress secured 114 assembly seats, whereas BJP secured 109 seats. The assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh were held on November 17.

Meanwhile, the Saffron Party is all set to return to power in the Western state of Rajasthan after five years of hiatus. As per the latest trends, BJP is leading in 110 seats of the 199 seats, whereas Congress is in 73 seats. In order to form government in the state, a party or coalition has to secure 100 seats. In 2018, BJP secured 73 seats whereas Congress secured 100 seats. The assembly elections in Rajasthan were held on November 30.

In Chhattisgarh, of the 90 assembly seats, the BJP is leading in 54 seats, whereas Congress is leading in 35 seats. In order to form a government in the state, a party or coalition has to secure 46 seats. In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress secured 68 seats, whereas BJP won 15 seats.

In Telangana, of the 119 assembly seats, Congress is leading in 67 seats, whereas the regional party Bharat Rashtra Samithi, led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has won 35 seats. BJP is currently leading in 9 seats. Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majilis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) is leading in 6 seats. The 2023 assembly elections in the state were held on November 25 this year.

In the 2018 assembly elections, BRS secured 88 seats, whereas Congress secured 19 seats.

Meanwhile, the counting for Mizoram assembly elections, which took place on November 7, will be held on December 4.
