Domestic coal production up 14.7% to 892 MT in FY23; FY24 target is one billion MT
Coal India Limited (CIL) continued to be the largest producer of domestic coal accounting for 78.8% of the total production during FY23.
Coal imports decline to 209 MT in FY22; production up by 61 MT
Though there was a dip in imports, coal demand rose from 906 MT in 2020-21 to 1,027 MT in 2021-22; govt says imports kept in check on sustained domestic supply.
