The tier-1 auto component maker terms unrest an industry-wide issue, reiterates legal compliance and employee safety focus

Vivek Chand Sehgal-led Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited on Monday moved to calm investor concerns over ongoing labour protests in Noida and other industrial clusters, stating that the unrest is part of a broader, industry-wide issue triggered by misinformation around wage revisions rather than company-specific grievances.
The clarification comes amid continuing protests across parts of Noida and adjoining industrial belts in Uttar Pradesh, where workers across multiple manufacturing units have raised concerns related to wage revisions and employment conditions. The situation has led to sporadic disruptions and increased caution among companies operating in the region.
In an official communication, the company said in a statement, “This is a broader labour issue affecting multiple industries in Noida and some other cities, driven by misinformation being spread about wage revisions. Our operations remain compliant with all applicable laws with no material impact on the Company. The safety of our employees remains our top priority. The authorities are working closely with the industry to bring things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
The company underscored that the protests are not limited to its own facilities but reflect a wider labour challenge impacting industrial clusters. It pointed to misinformation around wage revision policies as a key trigger behind the unrest, which has affected multiple sectors in the region.
The clarification comes at a time when labour developments in key manufacturing hubs are being closely tracked for potential ripple effects on supply chains, particularly in the automotive sector.
Reassuring stakeholders, the company emphasised that its operations continue to adhere to all applicable regulations and that there has been no material impact on its business performance despite the prevailing situation.
This is significant given the company’s role in supplying critical components to automakers, where even minor disruptions can cascade across production schedules.
Motherson Sumi Wiring reiterated that employee safety and well-being remain central to its response strategy, while highlighting ongoing coordination with authorities and industry stakeholders to stabilise the situation and restore normalcy.
Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited is among India’s leading manufacturers of automotive wiring harnesses, supplying to major passenger vehicle and two-wheeler OEMs. Part of the larger Motherson Group, the company has a strong domestic manufacturing footprint and plays a key role in the automotive supply chain.
It reported revenue of over ₹7,000 crore in the last financial year, underlining its scale and deep integration with leading automakers, while continuing to focus on operational efficiencies and growth.
