Vietnamese EV giant strengthens global presence with Lac Hong ultra-luxury line and India expansion

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has structured its automotive portfolio into three distinct brand pillars and unveiled two ultra-luxury EVs — the Lac Hong 800S and 900S — ahead of their 2027 commercial launch.
Announced in Hanoi on March 3, the new structure comprises: the Lac Hong line for ultra-luxury vehicles, the VF range for mass-market passenger EVs, and the Green line for commercial mobility solutions. The 800S and 900S join the Lac Hong family alongside the 900 LX, including its advanced armoured variant.
Both models feature fully active suspension and a tri-motor setup — one front, two rear — producing 460 kW combined output.
Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Automotives at VinFast, stated:
“Following a period of accelerated growth — achieving the No.1 position in Vietnam and establishing our presence in key regional markets — the completion of our three-brand structure lays the foundation for our next phase of development: structured, professional and breakthrough-driven.
In her view, the Lac Hong 800S and 900S stand as further proof of VinFast’s technological mastery, product development capability and advanced manufacturing expertise. “We believe products created by Vietnamese intellect, craftsmanship and resilience not only inspire national pride but also convey a powerful message about Vietnam’s cultural heritage and technological stature in this new era of global advancement,” she noted.
VinFast, a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC and listed on Nasdaq as VFS, is steadily expanding its footprint in India. The company currently sells the VF6 and VF7 SUVs, priced around ₹17.3–26.8 lakh, while exploring the ₹10–14 lakh EV segment to reach a broader base of consumers. Upcoming models like the VF8 (~₹50–60 lakh) and VF9 (~₹65–75 lakh) are expected to strengthen its premium offering.
The company is building a $500 million manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, designed for an annual capacity of 150,000 units and providing 3,500 direct jobs. The facility will support domestic sales and exports to regional markets, aligning with VinFast’s strategy to become a significant EV player in India.
Founded in 2017, VinFast has quickly emerged as Vietnam’s largest EV maker. With over 15 models launched and a record 175,099 vehicles delivered in Vietnam in 2025, the company has led the domestic market for 16 consecutive months. Beyond Vietnam and India, VinFast is targeting expansion in North America and Europe, combining cutting-edge technology with Vietnamese cultural craftsmanship through the Lac Hong ultra-luxury line.
