Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with chief executives and experts from the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, as the government steps up efforts to advance India’s AI mission ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled for February. 

Fostering strategic collaborations 

The interaction focused on fostering strategic collaborations, showcasing AI innovations and accelerating the country’s ambitions in the sector. CEOs participating in the roundtable expressed strong support for India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in AI technologies and acknowledged the government’s push to position India as a global AI leader. 

The high-level roundtable was attended by CEOs from companies, including Wipro, TCS, HCLTech, Zoho Corporation, LTI Mindtree, Jio Platforms, AdaniConnex, Nxtra Data, and Netweb Technologies, along with experts from IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada were also present. 

The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, will participate as a keynote speaker at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Wider adoption of AI 

Highlighting the importance of emerging technologies, the Prime Minister called for wider adoption of AI across sectors to drive national growth and urged companies to prioritise indigenous technologies. Referring to India’s success with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Modi said the country’s proven digital capabilities could be replicated in the AI domain as well. 

‘AI for All’

Highlighting India’s scale, diversity, and democratic framework, the Prime Minister said these factors have built global trust in India’s digital infrastructure. Reiterating his vision of ‘AI for All’, he stressed that India must not only create impact through technology but also inspire the world, urging industry leaders to make the country a hub for global AI initiatives. 

Modi also underlined the need for robust data security, ethical AI use and the democratisation of technology. He called for building a transparent, impartial and secure AI ecosystem, while placing emphasis on AI skilling and talent development. India’s AI framework, he said, should reflect the nation’s values and character. 

Earlier, the Prime Minister held interactions with leading CEOs from the energy sector, underscoring India’s emerging role in the global energy landscape. The discussions highlighted the sector’s vast potential for investment, growth and innovation in India. 

Industry leaders shared insights on key trends and challenges and expressed confidence in India’s long-term growth trajectory and policy direction in the energy space.
