The plant is expected to generate around 2,000 direct jobs, the Union Communications Minister said during a visit to the Shivpuri-Kolaras region.

It will come up within two months near Kolaras, about 70 km from Shivpuri, at the junction of the Kota Highway and Mumbai–Gwalior Highway, addressing the long-pending demand for industrial development, he said.

Scindia said the defence equipment manufactured at the facility will contribute to protecting the country’s borders.

“Kolaras, known for agriculture and tomato production, will now emerge as an important centre of India’s defence strength,” he added.
