The prime minister on Monday framed the BJP-NDA’s Assembly election gains as a mandate for governance, welfare delivery and economic stability, saying the results reflected public trust in “performance”, “positive politics” and the resolve for a developed India.

Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi, Modi said the verdict in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry showed rising support for the NDA’s governance model. He said BJP-NDA governments were now in power in more than 20 states and added that the party’s mantra remained “Citizen is God”.

The PM placed special emphasis on West Bengal, where he said the BJP would work for a “better future” for the state. In a key welfare announcement, Modi said the Ayushman Bharat scheme would be cleared in West Bengal in the first cabinet meeting, indicating that health coverage and implementation of central schemes could become an early priority for the new government.

Modi said the BJP’s focus in Bengal would be on women’s safety, youth employment and curbing migration. He also urged party workers to rise above party lines and work for the upliftment of Bengal and its people, saying the goal should be “not revenge, but change; not fear, but a bright future”.

The comments are important from a business and policy perspective as better Union-state alignment could speed up the rollout of welfare programmes, infrastructure projects and administrative approvals in Bengal. The promise of Ayushman Bharat implementation also points to an immediate push on public health delivery, an area that could involve hospitals, insurance systems, digital health infrastructure and state-level implementation networks.

Modi also linked the election outcome to the broader national development agenda. Referring to global uncertainty and the crisis in West Asia, he said India was confronting external challenges with resilience and that voters had backed stability at a time when global economies were under stress. “The people of India were voting for stability,” he said.
