Chinese EV major BYD India has opened bookings for the anniversary edition of its flagship electric SUV, BYD Sealion 7, as it looks to consolidate its position in India’s premium EV segment. The company announced that the bookings for the First Anniversary Edition commenced on March 17, with a token amount of ₹70,000 across dealerships. The model is priced at ₹49.4 lakh for the Premium variant and ₹54.9 lakh for the Performance trim (ex-showroom).
As part of the limited-period offering, the first 1,100 customers will receive bundled benefits, including complimentary service and maintenance for two years and a home charger with installation. The offer is valid for bookings made till April 30.
The special edition also comes with an extended warranty on the low-voltage battery—eight years or 150,000 km—compared with the standard six-year coverage, while the high-voltage battery continues with an eight-year/160,000 km warranty.
A senior company executive said the anniversary edition is aimed at enhancing ownership value while sustaining momentum in the premium EV space.
The SEALION 7, launched in India in 2025, has recorded over 2,500 unit sales so far, according to the company, indicating growing demand in the high-end electric SUV category.
Built on an 82.56 kWh battery pack, the model offers a claimed driving range of up to 567 km (NEDC) for the Premium variant and 542 km for the Performance version. The higher-spec variant accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The SUV incorporates BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery technology and structural integration platform, aimed at improving safety and vehicle rigidity. It also features torque adaptation control for enhanced driving dynamics.
Premium EV push in India
With this launch, BYD continues to expand its premium EV portfolio in India, which includes models such as the BYD ATTO 3 and BYD SEAL, amid intensifying competition in the fast-growing electric passenger vehicle market.
Industry data shows that automakers are increasingly targeting the premium EV segment, where higher margins and rising consumer interest are driving new launches and feature-led differentiation.
