Hyundai Motor India reported a 35.1% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, as higher operating costs weighed on profitability despite broadly stable revenue.

The country's second-largest passenger vehicle maker posted a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹888.6 crore for the June quarter, compared with ₹1,369.2 crore in the corresponding period last year, Hyundai Motor India said in its earnings report.

Revenue from operations remained largely flat at ₹16,334.6 crore in Q1 FY27, marginally lower than ₹16,412.9 crore reported a year ago. Total income also remained almost unchanged at ₹16,609 crore, compared with ₹16,627.7 crore in the year-ago period.

Profit before tax (PBT) declined 34.9% YoY to ₹1,201.7 crore from ₹1,847.2 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

The decline in earnings came as expenses increased across key cost heads. Employee benefit expenses rose 20% YoY to ₹749 crore, while other expenses increased 10.6% to ₹2,214 crore. Depreciation and amortisation expenses also rose 5.5% to ₹557 crore, and finance costs increased 10.5% to ₹27 crore.

Separately, Hyundai Motor India's board approved the unaudited financial results for the June quarter and fixed August 5, 2026, as the record date for the final dividend of ₹21 per equity share, which was announced in May and remains subject to shareholders' approval at the upcoming annual general meeting.

The board also approved the reappointment of Geeyes & Co. as the company's cost auditor for FY27. In addition, it noted the retirement of Gopalakrishnan CS as Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer upon superannuation, and approved the appointment of Mukundan MS as Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer with effect from September 1, 2026, subject to shareholders' approval. The company also appointed Young Geon Kim as Senior Management Personnel with effect from August 1, 2026.

The board of the auto company, at its meeting today, also fixed August 5, 2026 as the record date for the final dividend of ₹21 per equity share, which was declared on May 8, 2026, subject to shareholders' approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Additionally, the board approved the appointment of Mukundan MS as whole-time director and chief manufacturing officer with effect from September 1, 2026, subject to shareholders' approval at the AGM. Besides, Young Geon Kim was appointed as senior management personnel of the company with effect from August 1, 2026.

Ahead of Q1 results, shares of Hyundai Motor India ended 2.65% higher at ₹2,044.80, with a market capitalisation of ₹1.66 lakh crore.
