Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd , on Thursday announced the launch of "its most advanced" electric three-wheeler-- the Mahindra UDO. The design, which has drawn inspiration from an airplane, envisages the vehicle as an "autoplane", the company said in a release. While the ex-showroom price of Mahindra UDO is ₹3,84,299, for a limited period, the company is offering the e-auto for ₹3,58,999.

Key performance metrics:

  • Range: It offers a driving range of 200 km (265 km ARAI-certified).

  • Efficiency: Powered by an 11.7 kWh IP67-rated battery, it includes three drive modes—range, ride, and race—reaching a top speed of 55 km/h.

  • Innovation: The UDO introduces industry-first features like reverse throttle for speed control without braking and a creep mode for heavy traffic.

  • Comfort: The vehicle is equipped with independent rear suspension and dual fork front suspension to ensure stability on rough terrain.

Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, said, “At Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, our purpose is to electrify the last mile transportation to meaningfully improve the lives of customers. This product reflects our belief that mobility in last mile must move from survival to dignity, while setting new benchmarks for the category.”

To support buyers, Mahindra is offering a warranty of 6 years or 1.5 lakh km and industry-first free services up to 1 lakh km.

Expanding R&D at Mahindra Research Valley

Complementing the UDO launch, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced a ₹196 crore expansion of its Advanced Research and Development Centre at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The ceremony was attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

The expansion focuses on:

  • Future platforms: Developing next-generation platforms across multiple vehicle segments and future technology.

  • Employment: Creating jobs for 2,000 additional skilled professionals in engineering and research.

  • Timeline: The new facility is expected to be operational within the 2026 calendar year.
