India's Top 100 Billionaires

August 2025

As India continues to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy, Fortune India presents its special issue on the nation’s Top 100 Billionaires. Curated in partnership with Waterfield Advisors, this year’s list reflects a slight decline in the number of dollar billionaires—from 185 to 182—even as the entry threshold for the Top 100 rose to ₹24,283 crore, up from ₹22,739 crore last year. From stalwarts like Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and the Mistry family, who continue to lead the list, to major gainers such as Sunil Mittal and Kumar Mangalam Birla, the issue goes beyond the numbers to explore the resilience, ambition, and strategic foresight that define India’s wealth creators. Artificial intelligence has become inextricably linked to the personal and professional, particularly among the youth. Consequently, Fortune India brings a fireside conversation, titled ‘AI: Made in India’, with Pratyush Kumar , the co-founder of Sarvam AI, which has quickly emerged as India’s answer to the AI hysteria.

This year’s eclectic list features both first-generation entrepreneurs and inheritors of established businesses. One of the questions that each successive generation faces is the reinvention of a legacy-based business, and therefore, the fireside chat follows a panel discussion, titled ‘Reinventing Legacies’, featuring the next generation of some of the most uniquely successful legacy businesses in the country. The panellists will be Avantika Saraogi , executive director of Balrampur Chini Mills; Keshav Reddy , the founder of Equal; and Aman Mehta , the MD of Torrent Pharmaceuticals.

The crescendo of the evening will feature three unmissable fireside conversations. The first will be a masterclass on entrepreneurship—'Entrepreneurship Masterclass' with Ronnie Screwvala, who pioneered cable television, founded UTV , a media and entertainment conglomerate, and upGrad, one of the most well-known edtech companies in India.

Sustainability has become an essential facet of any business in India, and talking about it in the fireside conversation ‘Building Sustainable Businesses’ will be Sanjiv Mehta, an FMCG veteran who has held leadership positions in Unilever in a three-decade stint.

The final fireside conversation, ‘The Challenge of Public Markets,’ explores the challenges in public markets, and speaking on it will be the authority on public markets in India—Ashish Chauhan, the CEO of NSE

The evening will draw to a close with the formal awards ceremony. The 40 Under 40 event will be livestreamed on www.fortuneindia.com and the social media handles of Fortune India.
