Amid rising concerns over a possible LPG shortage following escalating tensions in West Asia, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has assured that supply across the country remains stable and sufficient, even as global disruptions fuel anxiety in some regions. The U.S.-Israeli-Iran war has severely disrupted global energy supplies, particularly in West Asia, which is a key source of oil and gas for countries like India.
“LPG supply across the country remains stable and sufficient, despite global market disruptions and heightened consumer concerns in certain regions,” BPCL said in a statement on April 8.
The state-owned oil marketing company said it is closely monitoring the situation and taking proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of LPG for both domestic and commercial consumers.
BPCL highlighted that it has been maintaining steady supply levels, delivering an average of over 13.8 lakh LPG cylinders daily to households since March 1, 2026, ensuring supply remains aligned with regular demand patterns.
To further strengthen access, the company organised more than 550 BharatGas 5 kg mini cylinder camps across the country between April 3 and April 7. Over the past ten days (March 29 to April 7), BPCL reported sales of more than 1.18 crore domestic cylinders, 2.26 lakh commercial cylinders, and nearly 2.97 lakh mini cylinders nationwide, the release noted.
BPCL said it has prioritised household consumption while ramping up supply chain efficiencies. In a bid to ensure a robust supply chain, additional sourcing and logistics arrangements have been activated.
It has also enhanced operations, with refineries and bottling plants operating at optimal capacity to meet demand.
The company has intensified monitoring through inspections and vigilance drives to curb hoarding, black marketing, and other malpractices, taking action against errant distributors where required.
On the technology front, BPCL noted that a majority of LPG bookings are now being made through digital platforms, improving transparency and convenience. The OTP-based Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system is also being used to ensure cylinders are delivered only to genuine consumers.
BPCL has urged consumers to avoid panic buying and book cylinders strictly based on regular consumption needs. It also advised against unnecessary visits to distributors, assuring doorstep delivery, and asked customers to rely only on official communication channels, sharing OTPs only at the time of delivery.
Reiterating its commitment, the company said it is taking all necessary steps to ensure seamless LPG availability and has called for consumer cooperation to maintain supply stability across the country.
