Noida-based edtech company PhysicsWallah is doubling down on employability-focused learning through a new partnership with Microsoft, aimed at delivering AI-led certification programmes to learners in India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The collaboration will see PhysicsWallah’s skilling arm, PW Skills, roll out courses in generative AI, data analytics and digital marketing, integrating Microsoft’s enterprise tools such as Copilot, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, GitHub and Microsoft Office 365 into the curriculum. The emphasis is on hands-on training aligned with workplace use cases, as hiring trends increasingly favour applied skills over academic credentials.
The move reflects a broader shift in India’s edtech landscape, where companies are pivoting from test preparation to outcome-driven skilling. For PhysicsWallah—listed in November 2025—the partnership also signals a deeper push into the upskilling segment, where demand is rising beyond metro markets.
“Access to high-quality, industry-relevant education should not be limited by geography,” said Gopal Sharma, chief operating officer at PhysicsWallah. He added that the company is targeting learners who are either entering the workforce or looking to upgrade their skills in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
Microsoft, for its part, is expanding its skilling footprint in India through local partnerships to drive adoption of its AI ecosystem. Geoff Hirsch, head of channel for Microsoft Global Skilling, said the initiative is focused on equipping learners with “job-relevant experience” that can be directly applied in professional settings.
PhysicsWallah plans to use its distribution network—including its app, offline centres and YouTube channels—to scale access. Introductory modules will be offered free on YouTube, with advanced certifications positioned as paid offerings. A recently launched course on using Copilot for functional roles such as sales and marketing has already crossed 200,000 views, highlighting growing interest in AI tools among non-technical users.
The data analytics programme will cover SQL, Python and data visualisation, while the digital marketing track spans over 125 hours, focusing on AI-led campaign optimisation and performance marketing. Learners completing the courses will receive joint certification from PhysicsWallah and Microsoft.
As AI adoption accelerates across sectors, the partnership underscores how edtech players and technology firms are converging to address India’s widening skills gap—particularly in smaller cities, where access to industry-grade training has traditionally lagged.
