Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a state visit to Brazil at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on July 8, 2025, exchanged views with him on a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. They affirmed their resolve to bolster the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership while sustaining the two countries’ distinct roles in global affairs. The visit marked a renewed commitment by the two countries to deepen ties across five key areas: defence and security, food and nutritional security, energy transition and climate change, digital transformation, and industrial collaboration.

2. They agreed to chart a strategic roadmap to deepen bilateral ties over the next decade around five priority pillars: (i) defense and security; (ii) food and nutritional security; (iii) energy transition and climate change; (iv) digital transformation and emerging technologies; and (v) industrial partnerships in strategic areas.
3. They condemned terrorism, including cross-border terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms, and stressed the need for a united international response to such acts, which have no justification.
4. The leaders vowed to comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council, including expansion in both permanent and non-permanent categories, with greater representation from developing regions such as Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa.
5. They reiterated their resolve to pursue development, reduce inequalities, and promote inclusive social policies.
6. The leaders applauded collaboration in bioenergy and biofuels and renewed their engagement in the Global Biofuels Alliance, where both nations are founding members.
7. Recognising the importance of the Digital Agenda—including Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies—they welcomed collaboration on joint frameworks and projects.
8. They noted the potential to expand trade and agreed to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry, defence equipment, mining and minerals, and oil and gas.
9. Both countries committed to facilitating greater mobility for tourism and business by streamlining visa processes.
10. The leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral dialogue and promote a broader, more diversified cooperation agenda.
